Artist Statement
My interdisciplinary art derives from the archive of my personal photographs. Each piece pays homage to the ephemeral, memory, and the joy of existence. When I’m curating images for a piece, I sift through a smattering of candids, textile patterns, disposable film, scanned figure drawings, staged images of friends, anthropomorphized sculptures, close-ups of insects, snapshots of live music, stills from videos, and sketches. I use photography as a tool to be fragmented and transferred to paintings, drawings, and textiles. The result is largely based in portraiture, depicted both figuratively and abstracted. Experimentation dictates my process through layers of paint, fabric, transfer paper, or digital drawings.

Being a bisexual woman heavily informs the subtext of my reference photos. The queer community I surround myself with is one defined by self expression. I subconsciously present my experiences in a community of unapologetic individuals through the boldness of my color pallet and the patterns I am drawn to. It is a celebration of the art I engage with through performance, design, and the beauty of being surrounded by people.
